Update from Milan Fashion Week

As Milan fashion week rolls on and I seem loose more and more interest in high fashion, here are my takes (hits) at some of my favorite design houses. As an aside another reason why I love thrift store and bargain shopping, all you need is time and patience to shift through all the crap to find some old masterpiece, because all fashion today is, is what was fashion yesterday, just slight altered, and I sure can do the alteration myself.

MISSONI:

This seasons showing of Missoni reminds me so much of that movie The Aviator where Leonardo DiCaprio played that guy who loved planes and Cate Blanchet one of his hotties , don’t you think?

DSquared:

It’s like being on a voyage of Star Trek with Victoria Secret models: Sexy yet frightening.

ICEBERG:
I really thought they were just about over the top embellished jeans and winter jackets, but I should have known from their recent marketing campaign with Naomi Campbell, that some changes are occurring, who knew they made such sexy dresses?

CUTE FIND OF THE DAY: Polyvore’s online wardrobe

Somehow the fashion gods sent these people to me! Oh thank heavens for Myspace friends..:)
So, here’s the deal. It’s a website that allows you to create outfits online, from various sources, to create a complete look. And what’s also cool is that you can see what other people are creating too.
Great social (window) shopping, especially if you’re trying to curb your urge to be a ruthless shopper…like me. You know I thinks it’s like the nicotine patch for people who addicted to smoking: you can use it to stop the addiction or wean off slowly, or just …oh heck…you’re probably reading this from the cubicle of your office, with documents scattered on your table trying to trick the boss that you’re busy on that project that was due, like, 2 days ago while all you can really think about is how you’re going to nab those cute patent Marc Jacobs shoes at Barneys you’ve been dreaming about (or maybe that’s just me).

Regardless, check them out, they are really cute and I think for all the online shoppers (and window shoppers who make the purchases in the store afterwards) you might get addicted.

Check out this outfit i created from clothes I liked at Old Navy and wanted to see how it would look complete.

Peace, fashion and happiness!

A Spendid Choice

First let me apologize for not blogging, in like, 3 days, minor computer problems that are now fixed (yea!). Please keep reading and coming back for more cute finds and my random fashion rants.
Secondly, I know I feel a sense of duty to say that since I’ve been vegging out on so much TV lately (this weekend, I think I’m addicted to reruns of Scrubs and Sex and the City) I actually had a chance to watched an episode of Oprah yesterday and lo and behold she recommended and gave away( it wouldn’t be The Oprah Show, without the free-ness) Splendid comfy stretch pants and tops. Good for all the audience members, but my personal favorites are Splendid dresses, like this one perfect for wearing alone, or with jeans or layering. It’s splendidly comfortable and versatile…

Suiting Up: Trend Watch, the mens suit

I’ve seen many stars this season wearing some great looking lean cut pants suit, that just could not go unmentioned. I’ve compiled a few chic yet cheap places to get a similar look for us frugal fashionistas, and also have choices for the rest too.

>>Expensive: Under $2,000
This Armani Suit at Neiman Marcus: its a straight leg pants and a bamboo twill jacket. Its very similar to the one worn by Nicole Richie.

>>Affordable: Under $300
Thank goodness for Macys, Calvin Klein for under $200 is a great deal on a suit that might be crucial for an important interview. It’s made of stretch cotton gabardine.

>>Bargain: Under $100
Once upon a time I thought of Newport-News as a catalog shopping company that only people like my Mom would use, but my goodness I’ve been keeping up with their revamp for over a year now and I’m never disappointed, they have great deals on fashionable items. You can seriously look like a million bucks on a $100 budget. Like this pants suit, were the total is under $100 !!! Yes, the jacket is $54 and the pants are $39.

Let me know your thoughts on the three (3) selections. Leave me a comment or a question.

High(Waisted) and Mighty?

I am a jeans fein, I seriously have pairs upon pairs. I can’t seem to resist when a new wash, new cut or new trend emerges. I feel really comfortable in jeans; I wear them in the office, to a night out and a day shopping with the girls.

Well about two years ago, I remember Scarlett Johansson wearing some pretty fierce looking high waisted jeans at a Imitation of Christ fashion show, swaggering her hips down the runway like a vixen with a cigarette. I thought she looked like a 70’s disco dancer.
And now I see them on many of my fave shopping sites, in stores and then I even saw this Diesel ad and the pants that look kinda cute( if you look like the model)?

I’m kinda on middle ground about my feelings for this trend. I think it can be hot, and funky. But I’m a little bit intimidated though as to whether I’d take the leap and buy a pair.
What do you think? They can be very Charlie’s Angels as well as they can be very, well, Murder She Wrote, if you get my drift.
