I’m in love with the color purple!! No, not the play, the actual color.

If you’re like me and love bright colors, well this season we are in no short supply of stuff to wear that’s going to brighten the world (and/or annoy the heck out of our co-workers) – who are all jealous by the way because not even in their dreams could they rock a bright yellow Proenza top and a purple MJ pumps and still be taken seriously!).

Well, anyways this post started because I was casually flipping through Last months issue of Essence Magazine (I’m in Jamaica, unlike NYC I never get my mags in advance) which had my “it” girl Jennifer Hudson gracing the cover with photographs by Len Prince.

Jennifer Hudson, In the magazine’s content page she was wearing this ravishing purple dress that really flattered her lovely curves.

Anyways, It really reminded me that I was going to do a post on pretty purple dress. I’m really hoping purple is here to stay ( for a while).

Soul Train Awards was Blasé.

The Annual Soul Train Music Awards took place this Saturday the 10th of March, without much of the fan fare and satr studded-ness as other awards shows. It really got me asking myself “Ok, where was the soul?” Most of the nominees were absent!!

The big question for me was, where were the A list stars? What’s the deal if a show that’s giving away awards can’t attract people who love awards? Beyonce, Mary J Bildge, and Jamie Fox were all winners and all were also absent.

Any who, I do fashion, so here’s my pick of some of the nights “better” dressed, the others just looked like they’re going to have dinner at their grandmas, seriously.

Jennifer Hudson, who collected the award for Entertainer of the Year, looked more relaxed than glamorous in this black and white two-toned dress. What’s up with her hairline? Is she wearing a weave, her head looks a little funny? OK dress though.

Tia Morwy…remember that kid from ‘Sister Sister’? Well she’s all grown up and even has a new show (minus her twin sister) on the new CW called The Game?. I think its a plot to get me to watch more TV because next to Girlfriends on Monday nights I have to watch it because the story of the young naïve Pro footballer and Med Student couple is so sweet and funny!

Omarosa …come on now, who knew 15minutes could last this long?

Letoya, who co-hosted the show was probably the reason why Beyonce was a MIA ( Letoya was a part of the first Destiny’s Child).

Wow J Hud, is really doing her thing. Who is her publicist? Seriously she’s everywhere. I saw Dreamgirls, didn’t really like the show that much, but loved that she shined through as the strong-willed Effie. And she warmed my heart on the Today Show with that Pre-Emmy interview with Matt. She was so cute talking about her life and her boyfriend. I must say even though I missed her on American idol( never watched that show – didn’t need to I’d get the run down the very next day from all my girls), her 15 minutes seem far from over.

You know I’m always on the look out for a fashionable bargain! Jennifer Hudson was seen wearing this black empire dress on the red carpet at the Critics Cirlce Awards, and I thought it was a simple yet beautiful peice. So, i’ve compiled a list of similar items that’ll have you also looking “simply beautiful”. Last night was the 13th Annual Screen Actors Guild Award Ceremony held in la la land(Los Angeles, California). Of course I’m super happy because my make-believe best friend Effie, got her award (Go J Hud)! Oh, and there were some well-dressed people too…lol

I’ve chosen six (yes I know there were a lot of attendees but trust me you’re not missing much not seeing the other, so be thankful I’ve already skimmed through for you) of my favorite from the evening.

Jada Pinkett Smith was killing it in her bright pink dress and of cousre Demi Moore seems to be ahead of springs trend for bright blues as she controlled the red carpet.
I actually really like America Ferrara in this Olive dress way better than the purple one she wore to the Emmys; you can see her in all her curve-atious glory.

By the way if there are people among us out there that still get their prom dresses made( does anyone still do this? or do they run out to Nordstrom?), look to the red carpet for inspiration, there’s tons of good stuff her for all shapes and sizes.
