Pink Pants + White Blazer + White Fedora

What I wore today.

I’ve been getting more and more requests for outfit posts. And I’ve been meaning to, its just that I don’t feel I look “good” all the time to post all the time like some other bloggers do. I will wake up, put on some jeans and a t-shirt to drop my son off at school and go get coffee and spend the rest of the day just working, like that in some boring jeans and a tee.

Now, when I have on something else that’s a whole different story; I have to disrupt the hubby from his work schedule.  My methods of persuation gets tested each time. And it goes a bit like this

ME: ” sweety, can you take a pic of me please”

HUBBY – “well ( pause) je suis en plein travail la, je ne peut pas arrêter juste pour prendre ton photo”

ME:  ”pretty, please”

HUBBY: ” ok, but not with your shitty camera, bring mine” …

ME: “oh thanks sweety!”. *sigh. then *smile.

For the record, my camera happens to be a really good Nikon D3000 but he’s a pro and it just doesn’t match up to his Nikon D3S with a super huge (and expensive) lens. He’s so french!

Hey! Can you tell that I cut the waist off the pants – I kinda love that the rough edges were showing. I bought these maybe 2 years ago in the mens dept. at H&M.

I’m having so much fun with my 30 day clothing cleanse I twitted about here – I haven’t bought anything in 10 days! It’s forcing me to recycle my clothes more. It’s like the 80/20 rule (Pareto principle) but with your closet.  You guys should try it!

H&M Dress + Celine Belt + Zara Coat

I’ve been meaning to post this outfit for the last 5 days now! But I’ve been so busy freelancing. So please bear with me, pretty please.

Last week was still cold and a bit wet here in Paris, but I’m starting to feel the sunshine ( even if it was for only 1 hour today :) ) I know, I’m the eternal optimist, I can’t help myself!

We went to see Black Swan and I loved Natalie’s acting – you could tell she must have really immersed herself in the role – so yes, I think she deserve an award, Mila Kunis was great and Vinent Cassel was sexy. But I saw it on an afternoon – when I really wanted to watch something “light” and so I left the theatre feeling like ” that was a bit melodramatic”. Terrible I know! Go see it for yourself and let me know what you think.

Last week started off great with a bit of vintage shopping with friends - I bought this Celine belt and a small Dior purse – in sort of like an 1950 themed warehouse, with antique furniture, vintage jewelry and clothes, musicians and even a proper barber giving men haircut reminiscent of John Travolta in Grease. It was so cool! I’ll be back in March and I’ll share some photos then.

Best Blogs: Style by Kling

Hi Lovlies,

Here’s my blog pick for this week, it’s the first blogger to actually have a clothing  collaboration with Swedish retailer H&M.

The collection seems to be a lot of white and some splash of color such as this Paint-Splash-Effect dress, that seems a lil bit odd and kind of something that could have been designed by Masion Margiella.

I’m loving the all white  look. I truly belive that you can dress up a well fitted plain white t-shirt. And here is proof.

I can’t wait to see what that Kling Copper necklace looks like in person.

Her blog is a journal of her Must Haves” and shows us photos of her working, styling or having dinner with friends. It’s kind of addictive and is bilingual Swedish and English.

Tencel, Lyocell: The new fabric

Lyocell, Tencel is a manufactured natural (cellulose) fiber, made from wood pulp, it is not synthetic.

It’s main qualities are that its a strong fabric that has a soft feel and drape, making it both resistant and not easily wrinkled.

Back in the 1990s Lyocell was initially only used in high-end and designer apparel, because of its production cost (more expensive than cotton). However, today there is an increase in production and is now widely used. Hence, it’s easy to find it at your local H&M.

what is tencell lyocell fabric

I was asking myself what is Tencel(r) Lyocell?  As I looked at the inside label on a pair of trousers at H&M.

I know I’m probably the only person who still reads the components of clothes. I do it in the supermarket too whether buying cream cheese or shampoo. But I’m worst with the clothes I buy, more scrutinous.

I never buy anything without first checking what its made of, and you should too.

From the pair of trousers I bought, I was impressed by the soft drape, and feel of lyocell, and it’s reportedly a much stronger fabric than silk and cotton. It struck me as a cross between linen and silk.

I like to tell myself that the few years I’ve done of chemistry and biology has equipped me with enough knowledge to recognize some ingredients as “good”, “not so good”, or “bad”.

Now every time I see Lycocell, or Tencel( trademark), I’ll know what it means: soft, strong and not easily wrinkled.  It’s biodegradable, it’s “good”.

New Year, Old Habits

Ok OK, okaaayy… H&M is still my lil-pick-me-upper

I’ve been out of the first world for a while now, and what are the first two things I do when I get back?

1. Head to Srtarbucks for my Caffeine/Latte Fix

2. Head to H&M for my fashion fix

sad but true, I’m a true blood consumer. I embrace the many sides of me, you will too.

Any who, have you all seen whats in store at your local H&M. Ladies, OMG, I was having a dizzy playing dress up in the fitting room. Look what  I tried on

and then on my way out I got startled by this little beuauty. Oh my wallet be still!! It was 20 euros!!!!

I got this sweater dress because I knew it's something I would wear everyday. Nothing fancy.

Now, these remind me of the Isabel Marant red leather pants. They were one size too big, but If you're interested you can pick them up for 140 Euros ( or the equivalent of you local H&M).

This was a perfect fit, except I made a promise to wear less black. So I didn't get it.

OMG-I love pencil shaped (sheath) dresses and loved that this was below the knee!!
