Today’s BEAUTY: CRYSTAL HORTON

[ Like many of us girls, I turn to my girlfriends about skincare before I venture out into the unknown of a supermarket, pharmacy, or beauty counter for advice.

I wanted to share with you, my "online" friends, some of my girls who have great skin and know way more about make-up , beauty and skin care than I do.

So I've created a new series of posts called "Today's Beauty", that will look inside the cabinets, cosmetic bags of some of the most beautiful people I know, inside and out. ]

Best Blogs: Milk and Mode

I’m a devoted reader of Shopbop Lookbooks, they are always so chuck full of stuff I wish I could stuff in my closet!

One such Lookbook featured some pretty cool and unknown bloggers ( to me anyways), one of them was Carol from Milk and Mode .  Like the blog title suggests it a lot to do with food and fashion. Two of my favorite things.

I especially loved her post on the best cookbooks to give and get 2010 ( yes please!)  I live for recipes and cookbooks!

YSL Coloring bookMy recent purchase was a Marabout book on Vegetables called “Legumes” ( SEE ABOVE PHOTO – hey! Did I tell you guys that I found a YvesSaint Laurent Coloring book?!  Yes I did! and of all places it was at my In-Laws house..random, I know) and it about as thick as an encyclopedia but small enough to hold in one hand. I’m living by it as I write this, and thinking of ways to substitute everything meat with fish and vegetables.

If you’re like me and live in a big city with a small kitchen and a busy schedule with a flair for fashion, you’ll love  Milk and Mode too.

I should add, that I did try this Mac & Cheese recipe, but I dare not embarras myself by posting the photos. It was delicious but it didn’t look this good. I substituted the Cheddar for Mimolette cheese.

Fruit Shopping: Rue du Faubourg Saint Denis

I still can’t believe I woke up at 10AM this morning – damn you Vodka and Apple Juice! We celebrated the union of two awesome people last night and it was so much fun.

Somehow I managed to sleep through the noise from the Saturday morning cartoon marathon that my son was enjoying. So to make the most of the morning, we decided to run out and get some fruits and vegetables down the street. I intuitively just grab my camera now before I head out. I figure hey, practice makes perfect, even if its just practice on fruits. :)

These carrots were yellow! I swear I eat the best and most varied fruits and veggies since moving to france.

We had so much Mint tea in Morocco that I’ve been hooked. Now I make ours from scratch too and its so easy.

Have a great weekend!

xoxo
