Selected works of the Master couturier Madame Grès (1903-1993) are on display at the Bourdelle Museum in Paris. All throughout her life Madame Gres stated that  « Je voulais être sculpteur. Pour moi, c’est la même chose de travailler le tissu ou la pierre ». When translated she said she wanted to be a sculpture and that for her working with material is as similar to working with clay.

The exposition displays 80 pieces taken from the Galliera museum as well as from private collections.  Definitely worth seeing if visiting Paris and  have a love of fashion, couture or history.

The french clothing brand Maje is renowned for designing “typically” Parisian style clothing for the hip and trendy.

They’ve been in the news recently because of their collaboration with Vanessa Traina to launch a capsule collection. She is also daughter of Novelist Danielle Steel and the face of their recent print ad campaign.

According to racked.com “The Vanessa Traina x Maje collaboration line features 14 basic pieces in Parisian jet-black and a splash of crisp white and accented with bits of alluring lace trim and feminine draping. The price points are on the affordable side of contemporary designer chic—adorable silk short-shorts are $155, tapered trousers are $235 and a long cami asymmetrical dress is $265.”

As a long time fan of Maje,I was very inspired by their all red magazine campaign and excited about their Spring Summer 2011 collection; reds, maxi skirts, and the seasons mix of girly prints in light shades of pink and powdery blues.

She’s known for  her unapologetic  eccentric fashion choices, sitting front row at Fashion Week and using the word Fuffa about organizing your closet.

Gat Rimon is a young Parisian brand that I’ve featured on TC Magazine before. Every season I walk by their showroom for some fresh inspiration.

I wanted to update you all on what’s in store for their Spring Summer 2011 collection. Think Maxi skirts, florals, pale pinks, nudes and lots of white. I love how they always seem to create collections were all the pieces sync with pieces from previous collections; in that you can mix and match for years, it’s timeless, feminine and fun.

“BIG UP CHANEL”

I walked into what used to be an old garage space now made new to house the limited installation of Chanel pieces at Colette as well as young emerging designers curated by Colette. Well known artist Fafi was in the house customizing bags, and a stiff set of security guards to make sure there weren’t any photos taken inside.

But , alas, here is what I captured from the outside. P.S. I love that the wall graffiti said “Big Up Chanel”…Jamaican vernacular gone mass-luxe?

Today was less packed than two nights ago, when I rode by and saw a queue of people waiting in the cold to get inside.
