Roberto Cavalli at H&M…a hot mess in Paris!

As I entered the second floor of the H&M in Les Halles, in the 1st arrondisment in Paris, I was looking for a very pleasant fashionable surprise, the day had finally arrived! I was so excited to see the crowd of people ripping, pushing and shouting – I especially took that as a good sign when a young man said ” ca, c’est beau!” in reference to a well tailored men’s coat.

Well, suffice to say that’s as far as my excitement went and frustration and disappointment kicked in. I really don’t want to rain on H&M’s parade, but this was a lack luster showing by one of the most major designers to team up with H&M so far. Apart from the men’s items( well tailored suits, shirts and even shoes), it was all leopard prints for the women, i mean everywhere: on the flirty tops, the pants, even the bras and panties! all I wanted to see was a lil of what he usually does with his own line variety and color.

The median price points were somewhat reasonable if you give and take a few things, the jeans pants were worth the money, the basic women shirts and jackets were not. I’m sorry I’m not looking to buy something just because Roberto Cavalli made it, I’m looking to buy something because Roberto Cavalli made it , AND it was well made – Ca c’est une difference!

Anyways after the 30 minutes or so i stood around absorbing all these fashionistas, men included, I was tired, and disappointed so I wanted to get the hell outta there. I did not want to look like the entire clan that just stepped out of a jungle book story, with all that leopard. On my way out the section was almost rack-less, items were moving faster than a tornado.

To this day I think the Stella McCartney and the Karl Lagerfeld were very strong collaborations for H&M. Let’s see what the future hold. :)

I’ll put some pics i took from my camera, later.

I am an individual and I Represent Fashion

It’s so refreshing to see a place where emerging accessories artist and fashion designers with good stuff can show and sell their stuff in one place that’s never stagnant, ever changing(nothing lasts for long, so you have to get what you like when you see it) – ahhh the power of “each one wear one”: individuality!

Small time designers with a whole slew of big designs, it’s like a box of lucky charms, and we get to go all through it, digging and browsing at all the cute stuff! Yea!

“You are an individual. Shop like one.” is the phrase that www.IRepresentFashion.com lives by, they’ve teamed up with amazon.com to bring you the freshness hot off the no-hype designers who are hungry for stardom.

A place for independent designers, from all over the world, that stand out and make you an individually stylish. What more can we ask for?

When I was growing up in the 80′s plenty of “hip” people wore bamboo earrings, then when the 90′s rolled around it became “passe” and “whack”. But beautiful celebrities like Beyonce, JLo and Rihanna has brought the sexy back with these luxurious gold bamboo hoops.

Trust me you can’t go wrong with a solid pair of multi-functional earrings such as these, and what’s best is you can get really good and cheap gold ones online at Sunshine Jewelry for around $33!

New talent gets a big break with GAP. Oh, I can’t wait to see what will be the offspring from this marriage!

“We are absolutely invested in emerging talent. Part of us has always been about celebrating young designers,” said Marka Hansen, president of Gap North America, in an interview Tuesday. She elaborated on Gap’s new limited edition collection for women called Gap Design Editions, which will be created by Doo-Ri Chung, Thakoon Panichgul and Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy.

Update from Milan Fashion Week

As Milan fashion week rolls on and I seem loose more and more interest in high fashion, here are my takes (hits) at some of my favorite design houses. As an aside another reason why I love thrift store and bargain shopping, all you need is time and patience to shift through all the crap to find some old masterpiece, because all fashion today is, is what was fashion yesterday, just slight altered, and I sure can do the alteration myself.

MISSONI:

This seasons showing of Missoni reminds me so much of that movie The Aviator where Leonardo DiCaprio played that guy who loved planes and Cate Blanchet one of his hotties , don’t you think?

DSquared:

It’s like being on a voyage of Star Trek with Victoria Secret models: Sexy yet frightening.

ICEBERG:
I really thought they were just about over the top embellished jeans and winter jackets, but I should have known from their recent marketing campaign with Naomi Campbell, that some changes are occurring, who knew they made such sexy dresses?
