The (Color) Purple Dress

I’m in love with the color purple!! No, not the play, the actual color.

If you’re like me and love bright colors, well this season we are in no short supply of stuff to wear that’s going to brighten the world (and/or annoy the heck out of our co-workers) – who are all jealous by the way because not even in their dreams could they rock a bright yellow Proenza top and a purple MJ pumps and still be taken seriously!).

Well, anyways this post started because I was casually flipping through Last months issue of Essence Magazine (I’m in Jamaica, unlike NYC I never get my mags in advance) which had my “it” girl Jennifer Hudson gracing the cover with photographs by Len Prince.

Jennifer Hudson, In the magazine’s content page she was wearing this ravishing purple dress that really flattered her lovely curves.

Anyways, It really reminded me that I was going to do a post on pretty purple dress. I’m really hoping purple is here to stay ( for a while).

Oh Strap Me Up!

Bottega Veneta Ankle Strap Platform Sandals

As I always say, you’ll go right with white. These are perfect with a floral dress, little white shorts( like the cute ones i’ve recently seen at Old Navy), or even jeans.

Bottega Veneta Woven Platform Sandals

Fierce women need fierce shoes, look no further. Oh, and they can go great with that vintage brown bag you had since first year of college.

Christian Louboutin

Gold and Metallics are this seasons trend, and these are rocking…very glamorous, like something Beyonce would wear to the Grammys.

Dior

Patent and Mod, these are perfect with a retro look! I’m not quite sure if i’d make them a must buy.

Style lady: Sandra Oh

OMG! How cute does Sandra Oh look in this Giambattista Valli, with Christian Dior shoes?!?!
I Love it, its cute and Oh so Haute!

But, I can’t find it anywhere. Shit, I’m just going to have to run down to Pings( my fabric spot) and do a DIY…:) I’ll be sure to share pics of the process. It seems easy enough to make.

BTW…I’m so proud of Sandra, even though she’s always been well dressed, she’s sure made a necessary evolutionary climb on the fashion chart to the uber-stylish diva she is today. And I loved this Canadian import in the movie “Sideways”

Comics are so much fun to make :)

Nostalgic Rasta Fashions

It is the Earth-day of the Rt. Hon.Robert Nesta Marley( aka Bob Marley) today,
and ofcourse being that I’m a born Jamaican and a big fan, I’ve decided to focus a little on Rastafarian inspired fashion and styling.
And if you ever get a chance to visit the Bob Marley Museum here in Kingston Jamaica, be sure to check out the clothing that both Bob and The I-Threes( Rita Marley, Marcia Griffith
and Judy Mowat were some of the best dressed and stylist Rasta sisters around) used to wear!!!

Now, you might know or might not know that one of Bob’s children has a prestigious clothing line named after his first album, Catch a Fire. Her name is Cedella Marley and she also used to be apart of the group The Melody Makers with some of her brothers and sister. I remember when I was a little girl watching the music video and seeing them sing and dance how much i admired their clothes( which most times were sewn by them and thier mom). So it no wonder she decided to take the step and launch her own line of vintage tees and sexy jackets, skirts, and pants.

And here are some funky reggae fashions:
>>The Christian Dior Rasta Collection was a big hit.I remember when i used to pine over the Dior Rasta Speedy! Hmm hmm…

>>Catch a Fire and LAMB, The track suit pants is part of a set that Gwen Steffani did with her first season of LAMB, when it was more sporty.

Christian Dior Spring/Summer 2007 Haute Couture Collection

This is so HAUTE…there is always a show, and here’s a part of it, courtesy of youtube.com from comixdiscomix. I’ll be adding more about this years fasion coverage in Par-ee.
Bisous and a bientot!
