Chloé Leather shoe boots vs Forever21 patent peeptoe

Now Showing: Another episode of “Knock-off Jungle”

Chloé Leather shoe boots have long been on my list of funky-but-kinda- weird-cute shoes, somedays i’m in love with it other days i think it hideous. Partly because usually every other white leather shoes just look plain cheap, but these are just, well you know, toocute!

Forever21 has wasted no time in copying what they think are going to be hottest hit “must have” items on the list of fashionistas all over. Oh what they’ve cooked up this time was too good not to highlight. check it out.

I still would rather get the Chloe, which by the way has just gone on sale at net-a-porter. But then again maybe not, cause now the fun is spoiled if everybody and their mama is walking around in a pair of wanna be Chloe’s. I mean apart of the appeal was their uniqueness. Anyways, I’m awaiting Forever21 next episode in Knockoff Jungle. Which should be premiering again pretty soon( as in right after the next fashion week).

Yves Saint Laurent Dies at 71

Today June 2nd it was announced that Iconic French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent passed away. The news was delivered by longtime friend Pierre Berge.
Coincidentally, its sample sale season here in Paris, and guess which sample sale this lady was in attendance? I heard of his passing on the way to the sample sale in Montrouge.

I figured I really have to get something now, you know in honor of the late great. And that I did , i bought a pair of peach and white lather stilettos circa 2004 ( I’m guessing, don’t ask me what they were still doing with shoes from back in the hay day, i really didn’t care as they were whispering my feet and calling my name to rescue them from this unstable sample sale home. So i did and now they are chez moi!

More info on Yves Saint Laurent:
Saint Laurent was born August 1, 1936, in Oran, Algeria.
He changed the way modern women dressed. His introduction of the tailored men’s suit type for women was a big hit and revolutionized the way women dressed.

At the young age of 21 after the death of Christian Dior, he was put in charge to run things in 1957.

He left Dior in 1961 and opened his own couture house, in 1962.

In 1999, he sold the rights to the YSL brand to Gucci for $70 million, and Tom Ford designed the ready-to-wear collection while Saint-Laurent designed the haute couture collection.

The Associated Press reports that “

After retirement, Saint Laurent spoke of his battles with depression, drugs and loneliness, though he gave no indication that those problems were directly tied to his decision to stop working.

“I’ve known fear and terrible solitude,” he said. “Tranquilizers and drugs, those phony friends. The prison of depression and hospitals. I’ve emerged from all this, dazzled but sober.”"

His funeral is set to take place this Thursday at the Saint Roch Church in central Paris.

Those Sandals from the Sex and the City Movie

We’ve all seen the image recently: Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) in the Sex and the City Movie pictures on the street in that belted floral green dress and jacket/cape swinging a Eiffel Tower handbag. I’m pretty sure many of you might have been wondering about the bag, where to get it, how ridiculous/gorgeous it looks, and who designed it?

Well I’m here to tell you, those are all irrelevant questions. The bag is hideous, in my view. We should all be focusing on the true scene stealer; those gladiators heels!
Find them here at ASOS. Not sure who made the ones Carrie’s rocking but, you can get the ASOS version from their website for $120 and yea baby it’s all leather.

your welcome!

Yellow Nail Polish Trend

From the runways(Lagerfeild) to Rihanna, Beyonce, and now you too!
You know Miss Ri Ri has long been rocking those bright colored nail polish( remember the orange nails form the Grammys and the green nails from her charity event?).
Above she’s with her adorable lil puppy DJ in SoHo New York. Now it seems like Beyonce is ready to follow suit as was pictured arriving in Nice, France last week.

Kid Sister ( with Kanye West) raps about jealousy & nail polish and BellaSugar reports where to get the nail polish.

But seriously, are you feeling the bright color nail polish trend?

P.S. for your viewing pleasure…:):)

Italian Vogue doing an All Black Issue!

Word on the street is that Vogue Italia is planning an issue with all black models shot by Steven Meisel. Kudos to them! Now, my head is bubbling with questions:
Will advertisers follow suit and start using more diverse models?
Will other issues like American Vogue bandwagon on this idea?
And is it a lil bit too much?

Why not just make a concentrated effort to add more black models throughout the magazine over the course of some issues, instead of one single issue? Because isn’t it just going to be weird? – Which goes back to my idea of Black models not really being seen as other models, but rather “novelties” and “trendy” while the white models are seen as “constants”.

Also I hope the issue is not just with pictures of Jourdan Dunn and Chanel Iman (ok does any one know if this is her real name?) because if they work just as ardently to cast black models as they do white models, they will have no shortage of diverse beautiful black women.

Anyways a big pat on the shoulder to Vogue Italia. Lets see what becomes of this. Maybe I’m just over thinking things. What do you think?
