Birds of a feather -dismantling the feather fashion trend

Category : Uncategorized

Feathers are about to make their big fashion comeback from the days when a man used to wear a feather in his hat to a more prominent stature; like feather on your handbag, on your vest, shoes and yup the cliched feather in your hair.

Here’s a roundup of cute feather finds that might be worth your while if you’re getting in the trend, here are 4 feather styles that won’t have you looking like Big Bird.

1. You can put in your hair- like this headband found on Etsy.com. Its cute without looking like a whole bird just landed on your head.

ps the picture is kind of scary with the mannequin head, but that’s forgivable.

2. You can wear it on your arm – Like this peacock resin bangle available at Fred Flare

3. or carry this stylish gray feather clucth bag from ASOS, would make a wicked ensemble with a little black dress.

4. You can wear it on your feet – like these babette jeweled feather peep-toe heels from j.crew.

To avoid looking like you just flew away from the nest, keep your feathered pieces to accessories instead of outfit pieces such as feathered vest or skirts.

Fashion Trend at the 2008 Grammys: Beautiful blues and Mellow yellows

Category : Uncategorized

Everyone was out in full swing at the 2008 Grammy Pre-shows and main event and after parties. The 2008 Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center on Sunday in Los Angeles. Here are some of our favorite ladies who were heating up the red carpet in what seems to be the big trend for this season: colors!

I’m loving Nelly Furtado’s greek-like wrap dress in this bright hue of blue!

Its not often that we get to Ri Ri all covered, but I love this look a lot. What do you think?

Here she goes again in this pretty funky dress matching her asymmetrical bangs.

Alicia Keys was wearing a darker blue dress, but the pleated detail at the back really adds substance to the classy look

She looks great in this earth toned dress too.

Only Miss Bootyliscous herself, Beyonce, can get away with this…

Oh Fergie Ferge, “you know we love you long time”…

Ammm, when did lil Mama grow up? Loving the Chanel dress though!

La Lohan rocking those golden heels.

The Best of New York fashion Week, Ready to Wear Fall 2008

Category : fashion week, new york

The glorious tents of Bryant Park are aglow once more to showcase the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Usually I’d be scrambling for tickets (flashing my business card in the air saying “ But I must be on the list!” – which only worked once. Anyhow, I’m thrilled to be in Paris, but sad that I’m missing the shows in the Big Apple, and missing the outrageous after parties even more.

But I still get to dish about the designs. So here my take on what walked the catwalks.

Ruffian-
I really liked their fit to the body, rock and roll type pants suits and the flair mini skirts.

Threeasfour – deep curves and flowing layers added a type of fluidity to their fall designs. Water Goddess meets Zena Warrior Princess… or something like that, it kind of reminds of the United Bamboo look a few years back.

Tuleh –
Color colors and more colors. And loving the top hat details.

Jovovich-Hawk
All these looks are very vintage, I’d say very 80s: bright colors, bold shoulders and minis! My favorite decade, I’m loving it.
