Paris Fashion Week: Fall 2007 Ready-to-Wear Chanel

Is Coco Chanel turning in here grave, or am I overreacting? With mixed feeling about what Karl Laggerfield had in his mind for the fashion house and what actually was represented on the catwalk, I didnt see much “ladylike” designs that would make Coco proud. Instead I saw more of Karls love for snow, skiing and rebellious cuts. Don’t get me wrong it wasnt all a waste of time, and fabric, I was just disappointed because I was looking forward to some cute yet modern take on the classic styles of Chanel. But, as I always say “There’s always next season”.

Marc my word! – Marc Jacobs at New York Fashion Week

Ah…so fresh, and ever so bold Mr. Jacobs is offering up another dose of “Not what you’d expect” . Seriously all 56 looks that came down the runway were def ready to be worn off the runway. He stayed away from last years layers and bubbles and bulks but opted for the opposite: sleek narrow styles with tons of color. Like Paris in the 40s, complete with hats and gloves. I must also say that the working office female will find no shortage of classic comfy yet stylish and somewhat edgy suits to wear. The whole line was very professional in feel, tailored pants and below the knee skirts, vest cuts and jackets, the whole works. The accesories were as much a part of the show as the clothes, the necklaces were bold and colorful, the gloves were often long and bright, the belts were double folded, the shoes were very victorian. Here are some of my favorites:

TooCute Picks of New York Fashion Week Fall 2007

If its one thing United Bamboo are known for its there Coats, so of course it made sense that they’d be the best of the show.

Abaete, stayed true to their signature of asymmetrical cuts, and of course had great accessories like some sexy mod shoes and boots. Tons of patent and black rules the catwalk, along with bright whites, sexy minis and some colors thrown in for good measure of course.

Lela Rose did well to highlighter strengths as well: the girl type floaty dresses. More two pieces were seen though. Like some sexy well tailored belted above the knee skirts and crisp looking tops.

It was all in the details at the 3.1 Phillip Lim show. All the pieces adhered to the ready to wear them, with sexy party dresses, a mix of metallic, whites

DKNY, showed us that her New York was the one that’s a mixing pot, and within the pot is some of the City of Light – Paris. The show featured many Parisian styled touches.

Luella kept it Royal – as in very British with this seasons mix.

Tracey Reese stayed away from much of her floral flair, with beige, brown and pretty leggings.

ThreeasFour, Alice Roi,Alexandre Herchcovitch and more – Toocute Best of New York Fashion Week Fall 2007

Threeasfour desingers did a good job of using circular cuts to piece fabrics together.

My favorite designer yesterday was Alexandre Herchcovitch, i loved how his line reflected a mix of different fabrics, his inspirition coming from indigent plantation and mine workers of his native Brazil dress. I was surprised to see a garbage bag in the mix, not sure if that will take off from the runway and be a hit seller in stores, but have you ever seen a garbage bag look that good? And if you thought skinny pants were all the rage on the runway, think again, here are some looks I ripped from a couple designers yesterday.

Karen Walker and Alice Roi

Karen Walker and Alexandre Wang

BCBG Max Azria – Toocute Best of New York Fashion Week Fall 2007

I thought we were over bubbly type dresses, but I guess not, I guess i’ll have a somewhat artistic overcoat to wear when i’m preggers. However, I do love the playful soft fabrics, neautrals and purples that were used like the one for this Roman inspired dress, loving the loose flirty feel and the gold belt. I can definetly see this as “ready to wear”.

These two looks are so cute, I’d wear this one to a charity event and i’d wear the short one to a night out with mr.Jahaute( yes complete with the hat..lol) And I’m seriously Looovvvinnng this gold and black shoes, I have a similar pair in all white and they look so hot with anything, dress or pants. I need to find out where to get one.
