STYLE FILE: WHAT’S TO BECOME OF CACHAREL?

cacharel Fall 2011

Cacharel-spring, summer-2011

This week it was announced that Cédric Charlier will move on to other (perhaps greener) pastures after his six seasons as the Head Designer at Cacharel.  It is reported by WWD that the Belgian born designer will leave at the end of his contract on October 7th 2011.  He was the one that re-launched the brand in 2009 after its 20-year absence from the fashion scene (which in fashion is an eternity!).

Cédric Charlier gave us his rendition of the Cacharel woman; young, feminine, colorful and a bit sweet, as displayed in his Spring Summer 2011 collection that had bright neons in full head to toe glory. The signature “floral” (after all this is the same brand that gave our mothers those soft floral Anais Anais Ads back in the day) came back center stage for the Fall 2011/2012 collection that showed a creative mixture of brocade and colors a la Marie Antoinette.

Kudos to Cédric Charlier for resurrecting a beloved brand from the past.

It’s because of him that many buyers and editors pack the Carousel du Louvre to see the show each season in Paris.

My only question is was who’s coming on board and should this be taken as a cautionary measure from the brand not to go back to being not just another “vintage” brand like Christian Lacroix?

Old Levi’s and New Lanvin’s

Hmm, it’s 12:30 am and I can’t sleep so that’s a great excuse to do an outfit post, right?

These photos are from weeks ago (before Paris fashion week) , but I should put it up – will post more looks in the days to come.

Hopefully my outfit can inspire you to rock something that’s just been hanging in your closet.

BIKER (CHIC) PARIS

How are you all doing?

Wishing you a productive and fulfilled week!

Taking photos of the wonderful “everyday” Parisian women is so much fun and inspiring, take this shot for example.

She was on the Quai de la seine I had just parked my bicycle, and saw her from across the street; running over I said “Hi! You look gorgeous, may I take your photo?” she looked puzzled, then I said “just push the bike back a bit in the sunlight”, she smiled.

et voila :)

Low Rider Honda Bike (don’t see a lot of these here, mostly Vespas), Leather Leggings, Fur coat and low boots.

I’ve created a blogpost for my photos that I took during Paris Fashion Week, You can see them here. I still need to post all of them!

Not sure If I’ll be taking photos again next year, I will be back to working full time. Even though it was challenging in the cold, it was lots of fun, met really cool and interesting people; good folks well dressed.

Also I’ve started a tumblr for TC Mag, it’s like a place where I put a lot of leftover thoughts, ideas, photos and just about anything that’s too tangential to put on toocutemagazine.com. OH YEA, and it’s kinda funny!

And don’t forget to follow us on FACEBOOK and TWITTER.

Inspiration: DIY Burberry Trench

How cool is this Burberry Prorsum S/S 2011 Studded Trench!

Now you too can have the look for a fraction of the price.

Do it yourself Studded Burberry Trench coat

WWWD has teamed up with one of my favorite DIY blogger Erica Domesek from P.S. I Made This to recreate a budget version of the gold studded creation.

If you’ve been trying to find a cheap- er trench coat that still has some rock attitude, you can buy a less-expensive trench ( at H&M, Zara, or Old Navy), vintage or even use one that you’ve had for years to revamp.

To read more about all the how to details check out thier site.

TIP - If I were going through all that trouble to spray paint wooden sticks, I’d actually just change all the black plastic buttons to gold ones as well.
