Fall 2010 Ready to Wear- The Best of Day Two– New York Fashion Week

Cynthia Steffe- Shaun Kearney seem to have taken the Wiliamsburg 2o something woman and decked her in some knee high thighs, flowy skirts and utilitarian coats such as hooded parkas and tweeds. These days the brand is becoming a mainstay on many retail chains as buyers are liking the revival of the brand to relate to the young and trendy shoppers.

Charlotte Ronson – The famous sibling has showed that she has staying power and with a collaboration from JCPenny under her belt she also knows what it means to make clothing that can easily transport into retail success. With this seasons line some of the pieces were a bit of a miss – that only the Olsens could carry off, such as the head-wraps/Turbans, but most everything else  could be deconstructed to wear with your regular wardrobe staples and fit right in.

10 AM – BCBGMaxAzria
Simple and realist are two words that Mrs. Azria used to describe this seasons collection. It was evident that everyone is in recession mode and designs are throwing out fantasies for wearabilty.

12pm- Vena Cava

The ladies of Vena Cava Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock wanted to take us to their version of Woodstock, where chic urbanite meets hippie. Not very believable in those heels and fishnets but still a good showing where they upped the femininity aspect this season with many flowing skirts or body hugging dresses.

5pm – Rachel Comey
Splashes of color and dark nudes – as the designer tried to make “fall feel lighter”

7pm – Chado Ralph Rucci

More classic pieces you’ll want to wear in your late 40s and 50s – which explains why both Martha Stewart and Andre Leon Tally was in the audience.

8pm – Erin Wasson + RVCA Presentation

The runway was set at the ABC Carpet & Home in Brooklyn and out came the models in what I like to call “soft rock”. There were plenty of earthy tones and an easy going California style infused with a bit of Moroccan influence.

As New York gets ready for yet what promises to be another stunning year for Ready to Wear, we here at ToocuteMag are ever so delighted that with each season brings new designers, revamped design houses and just all around beautiful people displaying the latest creations and tomorrows trends – we wonder:

Who’s going to be the next “it” model?

Valentines Day is about love, red stuff, heart shaped things and coupledom. Many single people hate Valentines Day, and for good reason ( many people in relationships hate it too, because not everyone is into the gift giving and overtly saying I love you for putting up with me).

So if you’re single or just in a relationship and selfish the best thing to counteract this cupid madness is to fight back by getting cute stuff for yourself*. Thats right people – I think we can call it self love in this case, and there aint nothing wrong with that!
