Pastel Color Trends at New York Fashion Week, Spring 2009

Category : fashion week, new york

Splashes of powder pink seems to be the latest trend watch for Spring 2009, New York Fashion Week this September. And why not, it’s a refreshing change from the present winter 2008 trend of deep hues and plenty of purple and black. I for one can’t wait for Spring 2009. I’m already so over the tartan trends of this season. Seriously, just give me anything with color, or anything with wearable pink that doesn’t make me look like a dressed up Barbie doll and I’m good.
 How about you?

TSE gave us some sexy and comfortable looking ensembles, with lots of light and breezy fabrics, you know likes ones we’d like to wear and get stopped with compliments on the street only to say ” oh this thing, I just threw it together this morning”

Abaete shows us how to wear pink leggings with almost everything, and makes it look like a cross between Marie Antoinette and Debbie Harry, a little bit sweet and rock and roll at the same time.

Alexandre Herchcovitch brought us sultry shades of pink to mesmerize, with loads of femininity from fabrics that flows with your curves to the circular ruffled styled cuts.

Daughters by Obedient Sons, did what I would term as Yves Saint Laurent meets American Apparel( I know a lot can fall between here), tailored pant suits and plenty of basis cotton t-shirt styles.

Ruffian has so far showed one of my best lines this seasons with  streamlined  femininity that’s rough around the edges. See through pastel  sprinkled tops, plenty of fringe accessories such as knee high brown sandals.

Threeasfour this season reminds me of a bouquet of dried roses, where the reds have faded to an over-worn pink but you can still see the beauty in their existence.
There was plenty of pastel colors on the runways the Spring 2009 NYC Fashion Week going on in New York City.  Stay tuned for more trends updates.

Pretty pretty

I love this return to a softer color palette. I’ve also seen a return to softer silhouettes and fabrics, reminiscent of old Hollywood glamor.

One thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of Korean and Japanese fashion websites are employing these pastel shades already, making many kawaii fashions a possible popular trend this fall.

pastels were hot in london fashion week too- seems like a trend towards the marie antoinette type palette.
