Style Icons:The Pointer Sister’s

This weekend I was watching The Pointer Sister’s “Fire” on youtube. One of my all time favorite songs, even the version with Bruce Springsteen makes me want to cool down with a tall glass of Mohito.

But seriously, if you’ve never heard the Pointer Sisters’ you’re missing out on one of the legendary and best girl groups of the century. They sang hits such as “Slow Hands” , “Automatic”, “Jump” and “I’m so Excited” the list of feel good songs just goes on and on. They had a staying power that was stronger than Ajax, we can’t even count the amount of times those songs have been re-used in romantic movies.

The Pointer Sister’s were sexy, stylish and had voices that were a little rusty, a whole lot of sweet but most of all, filled with soul and sensuality.

SuperWoman 2008

So back to “Fire” it was in that music video I got inspired because one of the sisters was wearing a superman t-shirt and she really looked so sexy, I immediately wanted to replicate it.
*****The Youtube video is a little crappy****

BUT, here it is:

Alice and Olivia teamed up with Payless, to design those killer red booties. You can’t beat that: cutting edge fashion at an affordable price. Are you liking the collaboration and/or the booties?

Paris Fashion Week is Here – Hey Ho Lets Go!!!

Paris, September 28, 2008

Today I walked past a casting call for the Gaspard Yurkievich show to take place on Monday, and I was breaking my neck just to get a peep through the glass door. I can’t control the excitement for this seasons fashion week!

Personally, I just have a feeling that the ready to wear spring summer 2009 collections are going to be not just amazing but inspirational. You know Paris is the place where the designers can really let go of all the inhibitions surrounding whether something works in the showroom , if it going to sell and all that, what matter most here is the aesthetics, people appreciate the designers dream more of how it will look on the runway.

So with that said, as you all know from my previous post about my canon camera not arriving, I’m getting a new one. its about time anyways. I’ll be moving on up the picture pixel ladder. I’ll be showing off my new camera with some super sneaking pics of fashion show attendees and anything interesting that strikes my eye. so be forewarned , the amateur fashion photographer/stalker is back on the Parisian prowl. Stay tuned, you know you’ll love it…

Pastel Color Trends at New York Fashion Week, Spring 2009

Category : fashion week, new york

Splashes of powder pink seems to be the latest trend watch for Spring 2009, New York Fashion Week this September. And why not, it’s a refreshing change from the present winter 2008 trend of deep hues and plenty of purple and black. I for one can’t wait for Spring 2009. I’m already so over the tartan trends of this season. Seriously, just give me anything with color, or anything with wearable pink that doesn’t make me look like a dressed up Barbie doll and I’m good.
 How about you?

TSE gave us some sexy and comfortable looking ensembles, with lots of light and breezy fabrics, you know likes ones we’d like to wear and get stopped with compliments on the street only to say ” oh this thing, I just threw it together this morning”

Abaete shows us how to wear pink leggings with almost everything, and makes it look like a cross between Marie Antoinette and Debbie Harry, a little bit sweet and rock and roll at the same time.

Alexandre Herchcovitch brought us sultry shades of pink to mesmerize, with loads of femininity from fabrics that flows with your curves to the circular ruffled styled cuts.

Daughters by Obedient Sons, did what I would term as Yves Saint Laurent meets American Apparel( I know a lot can fall between here), tailored pant suits and plenty of basis cotton t-shirt styles.

Ruffian has so far showed one of my best lines this seasons with  streamlined  femininity that’s rough around the edges. See through pastel  sprinkled tops, plenty of fringe accessories such as knee high brown sandals.

Threeasfour this season reminds me of a bouquet of dried roses, where the reds have faded to an over-worn pink but you can still see the beauty in their existence.
There was plenty of pastel colors on the runways the Spring 2009 NYC Fashion Week going on in New York City.  Stay tuned for more trends updates.

just call me the cookie monster, in heels.

Lookie at what yummy-ness i found on the Topshop website – i swear sometimes they surprise me, with the simplest of things like this red Cookie monster sweatshirt (also written in Japanese).Sesame Street characters have a special place in my heart and Cookie Monster is only second to Oscar the Grouch.

Doesn’t it look so comfy, perfect for a day of bumming around, watching your favorite movie, going to your favorite place and oh, eating cookies!?

Hip hip hooray for Mondays! – yea I’m not a big fan of Mondays either. But i work for myself so I can do what I want, and today I’m grabbing my kid and heading out to go sight see Paris!

Yes, I know I live here, but you’d be surprised at all the places i’ve never visited, like the Champs Elysee ( yea, I know I know. Jeez, if it counts i’ve driven by it so many times that I have a mental map of where all the store are aligned. i’ve just never actually ‘walked the champs elysee’…
so maybe i’ll do that today.

What’s your “chill-ax” day outfit and what do you do?
