Cheers!!!-Happy Birthday Mommy

She not only carried me for nine months, breast fed me, taught me the difference between kitchen and chicken (What! I was 2 yrs old, man!), but she still puts up with me when I blatantly disregard her advice and run into obstacles and problems I could have saved myself from. I’m stubborn what can I say?

But one of my earliest memories of a graceful woman and what I wanted to be when I grow up was of my mother. I wanted to be and look just like my mommy. I’d watch her get dressed in the mornings and marvel at her simplicity, there was never a transformation, it was all natural, no make-up just clean beautiful skin, a nice smile a story to share for that day and usually a cute dress (that she made).

Cheers to my first style icon, Happy Birthday Mommy!

A Beautiful Mind

Its that time again, for a trip to my favorite lil spot around. The third floor of Barnes and Noble Union Sq, rigth by the huge windows overlooking the farmers market( sometimes) and Diesel, Sephora, Filenes, WHolefoods, Shoemanina and Forever21….hmm. Also in walking distance from my fave vegetarian food place Zen Palete. Food, Clothes and Sustanance for the mind. What more could a girl ask?

I’ll curl up and read about a dozen magazines and skim some marketing books. But here’s what’s on my must-pick-up list( and should be on yours too):

I’m so curious about styles and fashion of yesteryear that I have to have this book The Way We Wore. It chronicles black fashion from the 1940s to present by renowned designer Michael McCollom.

Who wouldn’t want to live a life of grace and meaning, whose images till lingers even after you’re gone? Ok, so now, go out and grab this book because Mademoiselle Audrey was not just adorable and fashionable she was also charitable. That is true style and beauty. Grab The Audrey Hepburn Treasures
